FAQ

  • Our players do not get injured any more than others who are also pushing their limits at elite level. We are not just mindful of the number of hours, but also the intensity of sessions, and vary sessions accordingly.

We can only imagine that this malicious rumour was dreamed up by those who could not match the number of hours of training we offered for an affordable fee.

  • "They ban players from representing their county"

Firstly we can not control our players (and their parents) in a cult-like way. Secondly we do not ban players from representing their counties (many have and still do).

What we do say to top national players only is that if they are undertaking ellite level training with us for so many hours every week, county training does not need to be top of their priorities. They have a packed schedule of Tennis Europe and national tournaments (perhaps also GCSEs) to fit in, they already have intensive daily training, and their bodies need adequate rest. Something has to give and that might have to be county training and events.

We understand that counties need to look after their own interests, but we are solely focused on the objective interests of our players.

  • "They are against the LTA"

We have absolutely nothing against the LTA. One of our founders, Hareen Wasantha, was himself a part of the LTA School of Excellence at Bisham Abbey many years back, as a junior player.

We are solely focused on what is in the best interests of our players. During the late Bob Brett's tenure at the LTA we actively encouraged our players to learn from him as much as possible. Conversely Mr. Brett visited us, saw our set-up and offered us funding "with no strings attached".

If and when our players could learn from national coaches of that calibre and pedigree, we would do the same again.

Until then we just don't see the national set-up as the holy grail for players to strive for.

Over the past decade Britain has produced many of the best juniors in the world, yet that is not reflected in ATP or WTA rankings - and the same LTA staff have been the "gatekeepers" at elite junior level in all that time

In our opinion these individuals are doing their very best, but they are simply not up to it. So if we have an elite player, we are going to have valid concerns whether the LTA system, with its current personnel, will help them achieve their dreams.

This does not equate to us being "against the LTA".
